Emergency Room | Travel RN | Nights | Arroyo Grande, CA

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

About the Unit

This busy Emergency Department manages a high-volume, diverse patient population averaging 75 visits per day, with peak days exceeding 100. The clinical mix includes pediatric cases (~15%), stroke, orthopedic injuries, abdominal pain, and trauma patients who are stabilized and transferred. The facility does not have Labor & Delivery, a dedicated pediatric unit, or a NICU.

Schedule & Float

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays rotated with core staff
• Float requirement: first to float to a sister ED location
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific onboarding

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required)
• PALS and TNCC (preferred)
• Basic EKG competency exam required during orientation

Clinical Environment

• Physicians and mid-level providers on staff
• ER Techs and EMTs provide support; RNs do not perform lab draws
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Nurses independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
• Ventilator management experience applicable

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Travel experience preferred
• BSN not required; valid CA RN license required

Cancellation Policy: Up to 4 shifts may be cancelled over a 13-week assignment.
