Medical/Surgical Telemetry — Travel RN | Latrobe, PA

Contract: 17 weeks | Start Date: October 26, 2026

Shift: Rotating 3×12-hour shifts — Days (06:30–19:00) and Nights (18:30–07:00) | Weekend coverage required | Self-scheduling

Unit Overview

This Med/Surg unit cares for adult and geriatric patients across orthopedic, neurosurgical, general surgery, and urology service lines. The unit is non-monitored telemetry and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, physical therapy, social services, and phlebotomy.

Clinical Skills Required

• Port access and management
• Blood product administration
• Central line blood draws and PICC line management
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Colostomy/ileostomy care
• Feeding tube management
• Peripheral nerve block catheter monitoring
• Pre/post neurosurgical care
• Total joint replacement care
• Wound care and wound VAC
• Substance withdrawal management
• PCA and heparin/insulin administration
• Isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Rapid Response/Code team utilization

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience
• Active Pennsylvania or Compact RN license
• BLS (AHA only)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float within the facility and to sister facilities within 10 miles

Scheduling Notes

• Every other holiday required
• Up to 2 pre-approved time-off occurrences
• 12-hour orientation (first 8 hours non-billable); approximately 1 hour of pre-start modules required
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
