Emergency Department RN — Highlands, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This position is with a small, community-based Emergency Department in the western North Carolina mountains. The unit operates with a lean, close-knit team and maintains a patient-focused, customer-service-oriented culture.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Rotating weekends required
• No on-call, except during low-volume flex periods
• Seasonal mid-shift coverage (10:00 AM–10:00 PM) runs May through September

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start date: September 15, 2026
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Clinical Scope

• Standard emergency department procedures across a general ED patient population
• Staffing follows ENA patient ratio guidelines
• Float to med/surg may occur on a limited basis, though the team aims to minimize this

Required Certifications & Credentials

• Active RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS

Preferred Certifications

• TNCC, ENPC, NRP
• CEN, CPEN, or CTRN

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs

Ideal Candidate

A candidate who is comfortable in a small-team environment, brings strong independent clinical judgment, and prioritizes exceptional patient communication and service. Experience in a rural or critical-access ED setting is a plus.
