NICU/Nursery RN – 12-Hour Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced NICU/Nursery RN for a 13-week contract on the night shift (6 PM – 6:30 AM). You'll work in a Level II NICU caring for neonates with common diagnoses including transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN), respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), hyperbilirubinemia, and hypoglycemia. You'll also attend deliveries and provide postpartum care as part of couplet assignments.

Clinical Scope

• Attend deliveries and support immediate postpartum recovery
• Administer general fluids (TPN, dextrose); higher-acuity patients transport to tertiary care
• Operate ventilators, BCPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula equipment
• Read cardiac strips independently (no telemetry technicians on unit)

Schedule & Staffing

• 12-hour nights, 6 PM – 6:30 AM
• Weekends and holidays required (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 6-week block)
• Mandatory call shift every 12 weeks; additional standby available
• Float assignments to other departments as needed
• Block scheduling based on unit needs
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• STABLE Certification
• Willingness to attend in-state orientation week

Cancellation Policy

Up to 4 shifts may be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
