Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced L&D/Postpartum nurse for a 13-week contract, working 12-hour night shifts (7 PM–7 AM). You'll provide direct patient care across labor & delivery and postpartum units, managing high-risk deliveries, emergency admissions, and postpartum recovery. This role includes periodic float responsibilities and requires flexibility and strong clinical judgment.
Unit Details
You'll work in a busy obstetric setting managing approximately 3 births per day. The unit serves a diverse patient population, including high-risk deliveries, substance abuse cases, and patients with limited prenatal care. Support services—including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and obstetric/neonatal providers—are available 24/7 with a 30-minute response time for consultations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive L&D and postpartum nursing care following AWOHNN guidelines
- Circulate for cesarean sections (experience preferred but not required; training provided)
- Float between L&D and postpartum units; L&D nurses also float to NICU for grower/feeder care
- Collaborate with OB techs, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
- Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; call is optional but preferred
Requirements
- 2–3 years of nursing experience (at least one prior travel contract preferred)
- Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications (AWOHNN Intermediate or Advanced)
- Ability to float and adapt to changing patient acuity
- Proficiency with electronic charting systems
- Navy scrubs required
Contract Details
- 13 weeks | 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 7 PM–7 AM, every other week first to float
- Typical holiday schedule (one major, one minor holiday)
