Cardiovascular Progressive Care Nurse – 13-Week Contract

About the Role

Join a cardiovascular progressive care unit providing stepdown care for post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients, as well as overflow medical cardiology cases. You'll care for patients recovering from open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic procedures (lobectomy, thoracotomy), AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies, and esophagogastrectomy. The unit also manages medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
  • Weekend requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
  • No on-call

Clinical Scope

You'll manage:

  • Epidural catheters and chest tubes
  • Tube feedings
  • IV infusions and glucose management
  • Cardiac drips (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
  • Telemetry monitoring

Requirements

  • Must have: Stepdown and telemetry experience
  • Preferred: Prior CV surgery/vascular surgery experience or CVICU background
  • Certifications: ACLS and BLS current
  • Dress code: All navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
