Medical ICU / PCU Overflow RN — Night Shift | Asheville, NC
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (12-hour shifts)
- Every other weekend required; holiday support expected
- No on-call requirement
- Float to other units required
Clinical Scope
The unit manages critically ill patients requiring ventilator management, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, vasopressor support, IV sedation, and paralytic agents. Nurses assist providers with bedside procedures including chest tube insertions and intubations. Targeted temperature management and central line management are routine components of care.
Bedside shift report is mandatory. Relief charge nurses are expected to perform nurse leader rounding.
Required Qualifications
- Medical ICU experience; comfort functioning in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care environment
- Proficiency in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Strong critical care pharmacology knowledge (sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
- Central line management experience
- BLS and ACLS required

- Dress code: Navy blue or white scrubs
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
