Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) — Registered Nurse | Nights | Stepdown

Bridgeport, WV | 13-Week Contract | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This IMU position offers a fast-paced step-down environment caring for patients with complex medical and post-procedural needs. Candidates should be comfortable managing a varied acuity load independently.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Common diagnoses include post-MI with sheath pull, alcohol withdrawal, post-operative vascular care, GI bleed, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). All patients are on continuous telemetry, with RNs responsible for reading their own strips. BiPAP and CPAP are utilized on the unit.

Drip Titration — Required

RNs must be proficient in titrating vasoactive and cardiac medications, including nitroglycerin, phenylephrine (Neo), and nicardipine (Cardene).

Scheduling & Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts; 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation (approximately every other holiday)
• No call or standby requirement
• Float as needed
• Cancellation policy: up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract

Unit Support

• Charge nurse and house supervisor both available; charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment under normal circumstances
• One PCT per shift

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Dress Code

Royal blue scrubs; undershirts may be white, royal blue, or black.
