Histotechnologist – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Histotechnologist to join the anatomical pathology laboratory on a night shift schedule. This is a 13-week contract position starting November 2, 2026.
Shift & Schedule
- Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Sunday–Thursday
- Orientation: 40 hours
Key Responsibilities
You will perform routine anatomical pathology work including:
- Specimen grossing, cutting, and embedding
- Microtomy of tissue sections (paraffin, frozen, and hard tissue)
- Staining: routine H&E, special stains, and automated immunohistochemistry (IHC)
- Cytology preparation: thin prep, cell block, and cytospin (gynecology and other specimens)
- Specimen accessioning and block maintenance
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years hospital-based histology experience (grossing experience is essential)
- ASCP-HT certification or equivalent
- Associate's degree in science
- California state license (preferred; pending licenses accepted)
- Strong technical proficiency with fixatives, tissue processors, microtomes, and staining protocols
Additional Information
- You may be expected to float to nearby sister facilities as needed
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Two professional references required (covering the last 3 years)
- Background check required; facility does not accept Nursys hits
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during application
