Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Norton, VA

13-Week Contract | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Available

This telemetry unit cares for a diverse patient population spanning adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, with a focus on cardiac monitoring and medical-surgical management. The unit operates with robust interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and pharmacy.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 18:30–07:00
• Schedule options: 36/36 or 36/48 (3x12 or 4x12)
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• No on-call required
• Floating required
• Census-based flex shifts may occur without financial penalty per schedule terms

Clinical Skills Required

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Peripheral line care and management
• Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, tanks, non-invasive airway)
• Rapid Response/Code team utilization
• Isolation precautions/PPE

Certifications

• AHA BLS — required (AHA-issued only)
• AHA ACLS — required (AHA-issued only)
• NIHSS — preferred

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area
• Basic EKG competency test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
• Drug testing must be completed 12–14 days prior to start
• Facial hair must meet CDC fit-testing guidelines
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Charge experience preferred
• Participation in nursing student clinical education is expected

Orientation

• Begins Sundays; online modules included
• Approximately 24 orientation hours (modules non-billable, ~4–5 hours)
