Med Surg

Medical-Surgical Travel RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC

This 13-week night shift assignment places you on a general Medical-Surgical unit caring for an adult and geriatric population. The unit manages a broad range of diagnoses and is well-suited for experienced med/surg nurses.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 18:45–07:15 (3×12-hour shifts)
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available to work holidays (2 of 3 major holidays required)
• Call required if placed on a pre-scheduled on-call shift

Clinical Scope

• General adult and geriatric med/surg patients; no PCU-level acuity
• Heparin drips and IV insulin protocols
• Wound VAC dressing changes
• High-flow oxygen and non-invasive airway management
• Occasional short-term BiPAP with respiratory support (no additional training required)
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Float & Disaster Requirements

• Floating to similar units and alternate care locations (including inpatient holding) required
• Assignment to an Inclement Weather/Storm Team; contract staff may be required to work during declared disasters or mass casualty events

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• BLS required; CPI preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred (night shift travelers with charge experience strongly encouraged)
• NC or compact RN license required (pending applications accepted at submission)
• Must pass EKG competency assessment prior to start
• Attendance at monthly unit team meetings required

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs (not provided)
