Progressive Care RN – Open Heart/Cardiothoracic Unit | Charleston, WV

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This PCU position supports a progressive care unit dedicated to post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The unit also accepts medical/surgical overflow. This is a night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), available as a 3x12 or 4x12 schedule, with every other weekend required.

Clinical Scope

• Post-op open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients; adults and geriatrics
• Critical drip management: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Argatroban
• Chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal
• Central line management
• External and internal pacemaker management
• Wound VAC experience required
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, physical therapy, IV teams, phlebotomy, radiology, and social services

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• BLS and ACLS required (AHA only)
• West Virginia RN license or Compact license required; pending license accepted for submission
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility (75–99 miles considered case-by-case)
• Two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years required

Schedule & Contract Details

• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12 or 4x12
• Contract: 13 weeks | 36-hour weekly guarantee
• Every other weekend required
• Float within scope possible based on facility needs
• Orientation held every other Thursday
• Scrub color: Royal Blue/White
