Oncology

Med/Surg Oncology – Night Shift | Bristol, TN | 13-Week Contract

This night shift position supports a Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including oncology and post-surgical populations. Travelers will provide direct clinical care alongside supporting nursing student education as part of the unit's commitment to clinical training.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 18:30–07:00 (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• 3x12 or 4x12 schedules available (36/36, 36/48, or 48/48)
• Every other weekend required
• No call required
• Floating to other units as needed

Clinical Skills Required

• Accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, PICC line management
• Blood product administration, heparin, insulin drips
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• PCA management, wound care/wound vac
• Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management
• Isolation precautions/PPE, peripheral and IV line care

Note: Travelers do not administer chemotherapy on this unit.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience
• AHA BLS (AHA certification only accepted)
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers welcome
• Must reside 100+ miles from the facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Relias basic EKG test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Drug test must be completed 12–14 days prior to start

Orientation

• Begins on Sundays; includes online modules (approximately 4–5 hours, non-billable)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation included
