Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Maryville, TN
Contract: 13–26 weeks | Shift: Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week | Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
This inpatient unit specializes in stroke and TIA care while also managing a broader, higher-acuity medical-surgical population. The team is highly focused on patient experience and operates with strong interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and social services.
Patient Population & Diagnoses
Adults and geriatrics presenting with stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, ia, chest pain, CHF, sepsis, acute kidney failure, encephalopathy, respiratory failure, and post-cardiac catheterization care.
Clinical Scope
- Peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
- Telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring; dysrhythmia interpretation
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Blood product administration, heparin and insulin drips (no titration)
- Central line and PICC line management
- Chest tube, feeding tube, and wound care/wound vac management
- Substance withdrawal management
Floating: Required — candidates may float to other units based on census needs and demonstrated competencies.
Requirements
- Active Tennessee RN license
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (no first-time travelers)
- Minimum 1 year of electronic medical records experience
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications — all required
- Previous charge experience required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Orientation: 24 hours (begins Mondays); pre-assignment modules required within 48 hours of system access and are reimbursable up to 16 hours.
