Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Unit
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for a general medical-surgical and observation unit. This is a 13-week contract position.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 4 days per week (12-hour shifts)
- Location: Wichita, KS
- Start Date: October 18, 2026
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Clinical Scope
You'll care for medical-surgical patients across a range of acuity levels in a busy, fast-paced unit. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, post-operative monitoring, and coordination of care across the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Valid RN license (verification via Nursys required at submission)
- Current immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap
- TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Fit test and health statement
- EPLS certification
- Competency in EKG interpretation
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-volume environment
Onboarding
Standard facility onboarding applies, including core competency validation, charting system orientation, and unit-specific training. Plan for approximately 1–2 weeks of structured orientation before full assignment.
What We're Looking For
Strong clinical fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize in a high-demand setting. Candidates with medical-surgical experience are preferred.
