Pre-Op / Post-Op Surgical RN — Cedar Rapids, IA

13-Week Travel Contract | Days, Monday–Friday | 8-Hour Shifts

This surgical nursing role focuses primarily on Phase II (post-op) recovery with additional pre-op responsibilities as needed. The unit serves a mixed adult and pediatric population across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Shift Details

• Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Flexible start time between 0900–1100, 40 hours/week
• Holiday rotation required: 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays

Clinical Scope

The unit manages a broad surgical caseload, including:

• ENT: myringotomy, tonsillectomy, septoplasty
• Orthopedic: total knee, hip, and shoulder arthroplasty
• General: cholecystectomy, appendectomy, gastric bypass
• GYN: hysterectomy
• Vascular: AAA repair
• Urology: ureteroscopy
• Thoracic: thoracotomy
• Plastics: breast reconstruction

Scrubs are facility-provided.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of experience in surgery, pre/post-op, same-day surgery, or PACU
• At least 12 months of pre/post-op or same-day surgery experience
• Current, recent pediatric care experience
• At least one prior travel contract in pre/post-op, SDS, or PACU within the past 15 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license
• BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
• Skills checklist specific to surgical/pre/post-op discipline

Preferred

• Outpatient surgery (pre-op / Phase II) experience
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the past 24 months

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify.
