Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract | Nights | Downey, CA

This 15-week night-shift contract places you in a high-volume, combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department serving a wide range of acuity levels, including STEMI and stroke receiving cases. The unit sees a fast-paced daily census with strong interdisciplinary support from respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, radiology, social services, and physical therapy.

Schedule & Coverage

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Hard start: December 14, 2026
• Every other weekend required (4–6 weekend shifts per contract)
• Holidays required; no RTO the first two weeks; max 3 days RTO for the contract

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS, NIHSS
• TNCC and OCN preferred

Clinical Skills Required

• across all age groups (neonates through geriatrics)
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Arterial and central line management
• IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation
• Blood product administration, phlebotomy
• BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation
• Neuro-trauma: TBI, spinal cord injury, ICP monitoring, CVA
• Ortho-trauma, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, near drowning
• Isolation precautions and PPE

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ED experience; travel experience required
• Valid California RN license required at time of submission
• References and copies of certifications required with submission
• Advanced EKG exam required prior to start (20 questions, 45 minutes, 80% passing score; two pre-start attempts allowed, one onsite attempt only)
• Completion of required clinical and non-clinical orientation modules prior to start
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
