Labor & Delivery / Maternal-Child RN — Exeter, NH
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (Primarily Nights)
This maternal-child unit provides Level 2 maternity care, including Labor & Delivery, postpartum/mother-baby, and pediatrics. The unit manages deliveries from 35 weeks gestation and above, with an on-unit OR for cesarean sections.
Shift & Scheduling
- 3×12-hour rotating shifts, primarily nights with potential swing to days
- Every third weekend required
- Scheduling completed in 6-week blocks; no self-scheduling
- Call dependent on census and unit need
Clinical Scope
- Patient population: maternal-child, newborns, and occasional age-appropriate med-surg (females under 65)
- Circulator role required; scrub skills are a plus
- Unit-specific skills include IV management, RN bedside ultrasound for fetal presentation, epidural catheter removal post-delivery, and phlebotomy
- Staffing guided by AWHONN standards
Requirements
- Active NH or compact state RN license
- BLS-AHA, ACLS-AHA, and NRP required
- C-EFM certification strongly preferred
- Experience in L&D, postpartum, and pediatrics required
- Must not have worked at this facility within the past 6 months; no local candidates
