Ultrasound Technologist – Travel Assignment
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Ultrasound Technologist for a 13-week travel contract in Santa Monica, CA. This is a mid-shift role (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), Monday through Friday, with alternating weekend and on-call responsibilities.
Clinical Scope
You'll perform general diagnostic ultrasound studies and interventional procedures in a busy outpatient and inpatient setting serving neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Your responsibilities include:
- General abdominal, pelvic, OB (first trimester competency required), and NICU head ultrasound
- Lower extremity venous studies (DVT rule-out)
- Image-guided procedures: thoracentesis, paracentesis, and kidney/liver biopsies
- Emergency department portable and stat studies
Breast ultrasound is limited to ED patients only; no mammography.
Requirements
- Current BLS and ARDMS certification (AB, OB required; BR preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of ultrasound experience
- Valid state compact license in hand at time of submission
- Willingness to work 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- On-call rotation: Saturday and Sunday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
What to Expect
- 16-hour orientation
- Two ultrasound rooms with an average daily census of 11 patients
- Navy blue scrubs
- Standby rotation for weekends and potential weekday call coverage
