PCU / Stepdown

IMCU Float Pool RN — Stepdown/Progressive Care | Boone, NC

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract | ASAP Start

This intermediate care float pool position offers nights on a progressive care/stepdown unit managing telemetry-monitored patients across a range of acuities. Floating to Med-Surg based on patient volume is required.

Schedule

• 3x12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Up to 2 weekends per month
• Holidays required
• Block scheduling may be considered if requested upfront (not guaranteed)

Clinical Scope

• Telemetry monitoring for step-down/progressive care patients
• Common IV drips include Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone — managed within established parameters; upward titration requires provider order
• Patients requiring a higher level of monitoring may be transferred to ICU
• Patient population spans adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and occasional pediatric patients — comfort with peds required
• Skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, and Rapid Response/Code team utilization

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of IMCU/telemetry experience
• 2+ years of travel nursing experience required
• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required — must remain current throughout contract
• Proficiency with electronic charting systems required

Additional Details

• Scrubs: Navy or white only
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Local rule: Candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility are not eligible; driver's license required for address verification prior to offer
