Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA
Shift & Schedule
Days, 4x12-hour shifts (48 hrs/week); 36-hour schedules may be accommodated. Holiday rotation required — travelers must work 1–2 of the major upcoming holidays. Weekend rotation is every other or every third weekend depending on staffing and census.
Contract Details
13-week assignment with strong preference for candidates open to extension.
The Unit
This general med/surg unit manages a broad range of medical-surgical patients without a single specialty focus. The team emphasizes adaptability, collaboration, and a growth mindset as the unit continues to evolve in how it serves its patient population. Drips include heparin. Telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely. Travelers will be required to float across multiple campus locations.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
- At least one completed travel contract within the past 18 months (no first-time travelers)
- Proficiency caring for a wide variety of med/surg patient types
- Heparin administration experience
- Charge nurse experience
- BLS from AHA or American Red Cross
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
Highly Preferred
- Telemetry/cardiac background
- Precept experience
Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (based on driver's license address).
