Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) — Registered Nurse
Morgantown, WV | 13-Week Contract | Nights
This travel RN role is based in a Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit caring for higher-acuity neuroscience patients. The unit manages stroke patients, seizure disorders, post-craniotomy cases, EVDs, and epilepsy monitoring. Candidates must bring solid neuro experience and a strong foundation in stroke assessment and NIHSS implementation.
Shift & Scheduling
- 4 × 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule
- Holiday rotation participation required
- Flexibility with consecutive shifts expected; scheduling is not guaranteed
Clinical Details
- Stepdown patients: higher-acuity neuro diagnoses including strokes, seizures, and post-craniotomy care
- EMU patients: epilepsy monitoring
- Titratable drips per physician order (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, insulin, and others)
- Telemetry present; RNs not required to read strips
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7 for floor vent patients; vent management experience not required
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7; nurse aides present each shift
- Possible float to adjacent neuro and medical units
Requirements
- BLS required; NIHSS certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
- ACLS preferred
- Strong neuro background with documented stroke patient care experience
- COVID vaccination required (exemption process available)
- Active RN license; address must be 50+ miles from the facility
