Diagnostic Ultrasound / Sonographer — Outpatient Imaging

Waterloo, IA | Days | 13-Week Contract

This position supports a busy ultrasound department performing approximately 15 scans per day across general, OB/GYN, and vascular patient populations.

Schedule

• 5x8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday
• Start times vary between 0600–1000 based on staffing and case volume

Clinical Scope

You'll perform a broad range of diagnostic imaging exams, including:

• Abdominal and small parts imaging, including RUQ with liver vessel evaluation, kidneys, bladder, thyroid, aorta, and carotid studies
• OB imaging: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester (non-high-risk) — dating, measurements, BPPs, and fetal anatomy
• Gynecologic imaging: transabdominal and transvaginal
• Vascular: upper and lower venous Doppler, lower arterial Doppler, ABIs, aortic duplex, carotid Doppler, hepatic and renal Doppler, DVT evaluation of upper and lower extremities, scrotal/testicular evaluation
• Assistance with fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis is preferred but not required

On-Call Requirements

• Weekday call: 9 PM–6 AM (rotated among day staff)
• Weekend call: 6:30 PM–6 AM as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current sonographer/vascular experience
• Experience in general/abdominal, non-high-risk OB/GYN, and vascular imaging (all required)
• ARDMS (AB) certification required
• ARDMS (RVT) and ARDMS (OB/GYN) highly preferred
• Active AHA or ARC BLS certification required

Holiday Coverage

Travelers are expected to work 1–2 of the winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).

First-time travelers welcome with qualifying experience. Non-local candidates only (50-mile radius minimum from facility).
