Med Surg Tele

Med-Surg/Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Los Angeles, CA

13-Week Contract | Start Date: November 2, 2026 (Hard Start)

This is a fast-paced Respiratory/Oncology Med-Surg/Telemetry unit caring for a broad patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. The unit manages chemotherapy patients, chronic ventilator-dependent patients, general medical-surgical cases, and moderate-volume orthopedic surgical patients, including total joint replacements. Telemetry monitoring is both on-unit and remote.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Float may be required
• No time off approved during the first two weeks of assignment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of RN experience; at least 2 years in Telemetry and Med-Surg
• California RN experience required; active California license required at submission
• No first-time travelers
• Total joint orthopedic experience required

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must pass an advanced EKG exam prior to start (80% minimum; two attempts allowed)
• Onsite EKG competency assessment required

Key Clinical Skills

• Telemetry strip interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring; port access
• Chronic ventilator and tracheostomy care
• CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Chest tube management
• Central line, PICC, and IV management
• Blood product administration
• Heparin protocols; cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration)
• Pre/post cardiac cath and angiogram care
• Wound care/wound vac
