RN – Medical-Surgical Nursing

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its medical-surgical unit. This is a 13-week contract position working day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, implement care plans, and maintain comprehensive clinical documentation each shift.
• Communicate patient information for safe care transitions via bedside shift reports, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding.
• Participate in daily unit-based safety huddles and contribute to quality initiatives focused on nurse-sensitive indicators (CAUTI, CLABSI, CDIFF, HAPU, FALLS, HAI, VAE).
• Monitor and report on patient safety issues within a Just Culture environment; use the chain of command appropriately.
• Support a culture of well-being, alarm fatigue reduction, and positive team atmosphere.
• Seek and act on feedback regarding your practice.
• Serve as a preceptor for new nursing staff.
• Collaborate across departments and with nursing students.
• Maintain current licensure and required certifications.
• For Occupational Health duties: enter orders for labs, X-rays, and EKGs per protocol; document point-of-care tests.

Requirements

• Current New Hampshire RN license.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge preferred or to be completed during orientation.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or to be completed during orientation.

Contract Details

• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week.
• Up to 16 hours of orientation are unpaid.
• The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract period.
