About the Role
Join the postpartum team providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns during the critical recovery period following delivery. You'll deliver couplet care—managing both maternal and newborn needs—across postpartum and Level I nursery settings. This regional contract includes potential rotation to partner facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor maternal recovery post-vaginal and cesarean delivery, including fundal checks, lochia, incision/perineal care, and pain management
- Recognize and escalate postpartum complications such as hemorrhage, infection, and preeclampsia
- Provide newborn admit assessments and Level I nursery care
- Support breastfeeding and educate mothers on newborn care and bonding
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Collaborate with OB physicians, lactation consultants, and the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments and interventions accurately
- Prepare families for discharge with education on self-care and follow-up
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- STABLE certification required
- ACLS certification required
- 1+ years postpartum nursing experience
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- RNC-MNN certification preferred
Schedule
Every third weekend and holiday rotation per departmental guidelines.
