Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Night Shift | Hermitage, TN

13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This PCU opportunity places you in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment caring for patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, and medical needs. The unit is well-supported with nursing technicians and a collaborative culture that prioritizes quality patient care.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required | 36 guaranteed hours
• Self-scheduling with 4-week schedule blocks

Clinical Scope

Nurses manage moderate-to-high acuity patients, including stroke and post-cardiac catheterization cases. Procedures performed on the unit include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, NG/Dobhoff tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and wound vac troubleshooting.

Required Skills & Experience

• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Experience managing cardiac, heparin, and insulin drips
• Proficiency with BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
• Peripheral IV placement
• Tube feeding and NG/Dobhoff tube experience
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Stroke and post-cardiac cath care experience preferred

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Float Policy

May float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors as needed.

Additional Details

Patients receive hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, with structured communication practices maintained throughout the shift.
