Transplant Nephrology Nurse — Medical/Surgical Unit
Kansas City, MO | 4 x 12-Hour Days | 13-Week Contract
This transplant nephrology unit provides specialized med/surg care for patients with complex renal conditions, including kidney transplant recipients. The care team is well-supported, with a unit secretary on days, patient care technicians, and a dedicated unit educator available on the floor. A virtual nursing model handles patient admissions, allowing bedside nurses to concentrate fully on direct patient care.
Shift & Scheduling
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 3 weekend shifts per month
- No on-call requirements
- 48-hour weekly guarantee available
- Agency/contract nurses float first per unit policy
Clinical Scope
- Med/surg care for nephrology and post-transplant patient populations
- Dialysis coordination (dialysis performed off the unit)
- High patient experience standards expected
Requirements
- ADN minimum
- Background in med/surg, nephrology, renal care, or dialysis strongly preferred
- BLS certification required
- Missouri RN license (or compact eligibility)
Dress Code
Royal blue scrubs; black scrub pants permitted
