Trauma & General Surgery — Stepdown/Med-Surg RN | Weekend Nights | Morgantown, WV
This is a weekend night position on a fast-paced Trauma and General Surgery inpatient unit serving both floor and stepdown patients. The unit is also a nationally recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center, offering nurses exposure to two distinct levels of care within a single assignment.
Shift & Schedule
- Weekend nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend or 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday rotation with permanent staff as needed
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: September 24, 2026
- Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per contract
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, complex spinal cord injuries
- General surgery (cholecystectomies, ostomies), bariatric weight-loss surgery
- Complex wound care with varied drains and devices
- Chest-tube management and respiratory support
- Floor drips include heparin and PCAs; stepdown drips include insulin and rate-controlled cardiac agents (no pressors)
- Telemetry present; monitor techs read strips, but RNs must be able to validate
Requirements
- Active RN license
- BLS required
- Prior Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Experience with traumatic injuries, TBI, chest tubes, complex wound care, and spinal cord injuries required
Unit Details
- Charge nurse coverage and house supervisor available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy available around the clock
- Clinical associates support patient care
- Floating to like units (floor/stepdown) is required
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- BSN not required
