Cytotechnologist
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Cytotechnologist for a full-time position in the laboratory. This is a 13-week contract role working Monday through Friday.
Shift & Schedule
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday
37.5 guaranteed hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Screen gynecological and non-gynecological cytology specimens with precision
- Process Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA) and perform immediate adequacy assessment
- Prepare cytology slides for GYN and non-GYN cases
- Apply Bethesda system standards for accurate cytology reporting
- Maintain quality and accuracy in specimen handling and analysis
Required Qualifications
- Valid New York State license
- Bachelor of Science degree
- ASCP Registry or Certified Cytology School Degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, including FNA processing
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Proficiency with Bethesda system for cytology reporting
- ThinPrep certification is preferred
