Labor and Delivery Nurse
The facility's Labor and Delivery unit provides comprehensive care to patients and families throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including management of perinatal emergencies and C-section support.
About the Role
You will assess fetal and maternal well-being, manage amniotic fluid status and vaginal bleeding, and recognize abnormalities requiring intervention. You'll demonstrate strong clinical judgment in emergency situations including crash C-sections, precipitous deliveries, and shoulder dystocia. Responsibilities include pain management for laboring patients—both pharmacological and alternative methods—as well as assisting with epidural placement and monitoring maternal and fetal status. You'll develop multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team and provide patient and family education throughout the perinatal period.
Requirements
- Current RN license in state of practice
- Minimum two years recent Labor & Delivery experience
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications
- AWHONN or equivalent fetal heart monitoring certification
- Experience with the facility's charting system
Schedule & Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week, based on unit needs (no block scheduling)
- 13-week contract
- Start date: September 24, 2026
