Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) — Perioperative Services

San Luis Obispo, CA | 13-Week Contract | Days | M–F

This RNFA role is based in a surgical services department serving a diverse perioperative patient population. You'll work directly under the direction of the primary operating surgeon, providing hands-on first-assist support across a range of procedures with a focus on spine, orthopedic, and robotic surgeries.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, rotating shifts: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, or 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
• Call required at least twice per week and every 3rd weekend
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate perioperative patient care
• Scrub and circulate as needed in support of surgical procedures
• Assist in primary spine, orthopedic, and robotic surgery cases
• Maintain documentation standards and deliver clear, concise surgical reports

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Completion of an approved didactic RNFA course
• Minimum 2–3 years of scrub and circulate experience in an acute care setting
• Demonstrated experience in spine, ortho, and robotic surgical cases
• Current CA RN license (or compact equivalent)
• BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC)
• CNOR certification
• Current Professional Liability Insurance
• PALS preferred
