Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) — Travel RN

Rochester, NY | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This MICU position offers a high-acuity environment caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients across a broad spectrum of diagnoses. The unit manages complex cases including sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, multi-organ failure, post-cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, respiratory failure, and shock.

Shift & Schedule

• 3×12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required

Patient Population & Acuity

• Adult and geriatric ICU patients

• Special procedures/equipment: CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO

Required Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Arterial line and central line management
• Titration of vasopressors and cardiac drips
• Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC
• ABG interpretation; ETT/NT suctioning
• CVVHD/CRRT management
• ECMO nurse-driven protocols
• Massive transfusion protocol
• Blood product administration
• IV insulin protocols; procedural sedation
• Hypothermia/targeted temperature management protocols
• Pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring

Certifications Required

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of MICU experience
• Active New York State RN license required at time of submission
• Electronic health record proficiency required
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
• First-time travelers welcome
• Up to 10 days of pre-approved time off permitted
• 13-week contract | 24-hour orientation
