ICU Travel RN – San Diego, CA | 13-Week Contract

Shift: Days, 3x12-Hour (07:00–19:30)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

This ICU position is based within a multi-campus health system in San Diego and involves caring for complex, high-acuity patients across neurological, surgical, trauma, and medical critical care populations. Candidates must be comfortable in fast-paced, high-acuity environments and prepared to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction.

Clinical Scope & Skills

• Arterial line and central line management, CVP monitoring
• Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip titration
• CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD and lumbar drain management
• Post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, traumatic brain injury
• CVVHD/CRRT, IV insulin protocols
• Blood product administration, procedural sedation monitoring
• Chest tube assistance, fresh tracheostomy care, sheath removal

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of concurrent ICU experience
• Active California RN license (Temp or Perm) required at time of submission
• Travel nursing experience required
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (preferred)
• Electronic health record proficiency required within the last 6 months of work history

Scheduling Expectations

• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle
• At least one holiday shift, including the holiday weekend
• Float required to step-down or medical-surgical units across campuses (ED excluded)
• Maximum 7 days pre-approved time off; no new RTO requests after submission
• 1 supervisory reference required
