ICU Travel RN — Night Shift | San Diego, CA

Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

This ICU travel position is based within a multi-campus health system in San Diego. Nurses in this role care for high-acuity, critically ill patients across a broad range of diagnoses and will be expected to bring strong, independent ICU skills from day one.

Clinical Scope & Skills Required

• Arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Ventilator management; BiPAP/CPAP; high-flow nasal cannula
• Continuous IV sedation, paralytics, vasoactive, and cardiac drip titration
• CVA/acute stroke management; ICP and EVD monitoring
• Post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care; spinal cord injury
• CVVHD/CRRT; IV insulin protocols; hypothermia protocol
• Blood product administration; procedural sedation monitoring
• Chest tube assistance; fresh tracheostomy care; lumbar drain management
• Multi-system organ dysfunction/failure; traumatic brain injury

Certifications Required

AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (preferred/required — confirm at interview)

Scheduling & Float

• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle
• At least one holiday shift per contract, including the holiday weekend
• Float may be required to like or lower-acuity units across campuses (MS/Tele); ED float excluded

Requirements

• 2+ years of recent ICU experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Active California RN license in hand at submittal (Temp or Perm; no EMSA)
• Electronic health record proficiency required within the last 6 months of work history
• Maximum 7 days RTO; two days pre-approved
