RN – Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic)

Columbia, SC | Nights 4x12 (19:00–07:30) | 13-Week Contract

This orthopedic spine unit provides specialized post-operative care for patients following spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies. The unit is telemetry-capable and integrates pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support throughout recovery.

Patient Population & Procedures

• Medical-surgical and telemetry patients including cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, DVT, PE, chest pain, and dehydration
• Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial and femoral), post-surgical and post-renal biopsy care, CT Angio, and Heparin drip management

Interdisciplinary Support

IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response, and unit secretary support are all available on unit.

Schedule & Requirements

• Nights: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (6 shifts per contract)
• Start date: October 19, 2026
• Facility may cancel 1 shift per 2-week period

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; orthopedic experience required
• Active SC or multistate RN license (no pending licenses)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Dysrhythmia
• Electronic charting experience required (minimum 1 year)

Floating

Float to other units or campuses may be required based on census; floating is limited to areas matching documented competencies.

Vaccines

• COVID-19: Not required
• Flu vaccine: Required; no exemptions
