PICU

PICU RN — Travel Contract | Lubbock, TX

Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3×12-hour shifts per week

Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: November 30, 2026

This pediatric intensive care unit cares for patients ranging from neonates through adolescents in a high-acuity environment. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.

Schedule & Float

• Self-scheduling; shifts may be worked consecutively or split throughout the week
• Weekend availability required (variable)
• Float rotation to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU expected; refusal to float may impact guaranteed hours

Clinical Scope

• Ventilator management and care of intubated patients
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Hemodynamic monitoring and IV vasopressors
• ICP monitoring and EVD management
• Central line, PICC line, and chest tube care
• Post-cardiac surgery care
• Continuous sedation management
• ABG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Suctioning (ETT/NT) and isolation/PPE protocols

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Compact RN license must be active and in hand at time of submission
• 2 professional references covering the past year required
• Must commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront
