Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) — Travel RN
Asheville, NC | Nights: 18:45–07:15 | 13-Week Contract
This night-shift travel RN opportunity places you in a pediatric intensive care unit managing high-acuity pediatric patients. The unit bridges PICU and stepdown-level care, with a focus on critically ill children requiring close monitoring and complex interventions.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Must work 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
- No self-scheduling
Clinical Scope
Procedures performed on the unit include:
- IV starts and catheterizations
- Holding for lumbar punctures
- Central line dressing changes
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Trach care
- Tube feeding and placement
- ICP monitoring
- Ventilator management
Float Requirements
May be asked to float to Pediatrics and NICU.
Unit Support
A Health Unit Coordinator is available 9 AM–9 PM; tech support is shared with the adjacent pediatric unit.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of PICU experience
- PALS certification required
- Dress code: all navy, all white, or navy pants with white top
