Psychiatric/Behavioral Health RN — Travel Contract

Dubuque, IA | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This inpatient psychiatric unit serves adult and geriatric behavioral health patients, requiring a clinician comfortable managing a high patient load in a structured, safety-focused environment. Charge experience is essential, as this role carries leadership responsibilities on the unit.

Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts (36 hrs/week)
• No 48-hour shifts
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday rotation: must work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (unless unit is closed)
• On-call: possible, up to once per pay period as needed

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Psychiatric and behavioral health patients, including geriatric population
• High patient volume; charge/precept duties required
• De-escalation skills essential (MOAB, MAB, CPI, or SAMA preferred; may obtain during onboarding)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of current psych/behavioral health nursing experience
• Charge nurse experience required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• BLS (AHA or ARC) required
• De-escalation certification highly preferred

Preferred

• Experience with geriatric psychiatric patients
• Professional reference from charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the past 24 months
