Med/Surg Travel Nurse – Nights | Chattanooga, TN

This night-shift Med/Surg position is based on a general medical-surgical unit in Chattanooga, TN. The unit manages a varied patient population requiring telemetry monitoring, wound care, IV therapy, and enteral nutrition support.

Assignment Details

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Contract: 13 weeks | Start: October 5, 2026
• Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
• Positions Available: 2

Clinical Scope

• IV starts, lab draws, NGT placement, wound care
• Cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation
• Heparin infusions, feeding pumps, bladder scanning, telemetry

Scheduling

• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• Float between two Med/Surg units within the facility

Certifications & Skills Required

• BLS (required)
• Proficiency in IV starts, NGT placement, wound care, and cardiac rhythms
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation (advanced skill required)

Unit Environment

• Each shift is supported by 2–3 techs, a charge nurse, and clinical coordinator coverage
• Leadership is visible and accessible; the unit maintains a collaborative, team-oriented culture
• Self-scheduling options, with a strong emphasis on staff recognition through peer and patient acknowledgment programs

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs; no fleece or sweatshirts
