OR Nurse – Circulator/Scrub

Location: Paducah, KY

Duration: 13-week contract

Position Overview

The facility's OR is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to work as a circulator and/or scrub nurse across multiple surgical specialties. You'll support general surgery, orthopedic, gynecological, urological, ENT, and other procedural cases in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Circulate and/or scrub for a variety of surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
• Perform pre-operative assessments; verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
• Execute accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after cases
• Monitor patient safety and status throughout procedures
• Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation to ensure availability and function
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team members
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery
• Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 1+ years of general OR experience
• Ability to function flexibly in circulating and scrub roles across surgical specialties

Preferred

• BSN degree
• Previous experience in orthopedic or multi-specialty OR environments

Schedule

• 5 days × 8 hours (day shift)
• Call: 1 night per week + every 3rd weekend
• Flexibility to float to other specialties as needed
