PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Night Shift | Hermitage, TN

13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

This PCU opportunity places you in a collaborative, team-oriented environment managing intermediate-acuity patients across two step-down units. The culture is built on strong teamwork and consistent support from nursing technicians throughout each shift.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts, three days per week (36 guaranteed hours)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling with 4-week schedule blocks
• Float possibility between PCU units or to med-surg floors

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Patients include post-cardiac catheterization, stroke, and complex medical cases requiring close monitoring. Procedures performed on the unit include:

• Peritoneal dialysis
• Thoracentesis and paracentesis
• Chest tube insertions
• Dobhoff/NG tube insertions and tube feedings
• Central line dressing changes
• Wound vac troubleshooting

Required Skills & Certifications

• BLS and ACLS (required)
• EKG rhythm interpretation
• Experience managing cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
• Proficiency with BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and varied oxygen delivery systems
• Peripheral IV skills
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred

Additional Details

• Dress code: Black scrubs
• Patient rounding: every 2 hours on nights
• Strong AIDET and communication board compliance expected
