ICU Travel RN – North Charleston, SC

Nights | 13-Week Contract

This mixed ICU opportunity in North Charleston, SC is ideal for an experienced critical care nurse with a strong cardiovascular or neuro background. The unit manages complex, high-acuity patients across both cardiovascular and neurological specialties, with openness to training nurses looking to deepen their skills in either area.

Shift & Schedule

• 19:00–07:00, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend and holidays in rotation with staff employees
• 13-week contract | Guaranteed hours: 48

Clinical Scope

The unit cares for a wide range of critical patients, including:

• Post-op day 0 CABG (fresh hearts from OR)
• Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Advanced hemodynamics and CRRT
• Neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage
• External ventricular drain (EVD) and intracranial bolt management
• Induced hypothermia protocols
• Head and neck flap post-operative care
• Respiratory treatments (inhalers and nebulizers) administered by nursing

Float Requirements

Travelers are first to float — floats may include the emergency department or PCU for ICU/PCU holds.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 36 months RN experience, with at least 1 year in an ICU
• Prior travel assignment preferred
• Ventilator management proficiency
• Telemetry strip interpretation
• Phlebotomy skills
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN
• TNCC or other advanced certification
• CRRT experience

Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Bedside shift report is used for every patient handoff.
