NICU Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — Allentown, PA
13-Week Travel Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (07:00–19:30)
This position places a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a high-acuity neonatal intensive care unit providing specialized respiratory care to critically ill and extremely premature neonates. Depending on census needs, the traveler may also rotate to support pediatric patients.
Shift & Scheduling
- Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend requirement: Every other
- Holiday requirement: Every other
- No on-call requirement
- All time-off requests must be submitted at time of application; no block scheduling
Clinical Scope
The unit manages critically ill neonates requiring advanced respiratory support. Key skills utilized include:
- Bubble CPAP, CPAP/Nasal CPAP, BiPAP
- Intubation assist and extubation
- High-flow nasal cannula, nitric oxide, high-frequency ventilation
- Weaning from mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, pulmonary hygiene
- Assistance with high-risk deliveries
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level 3 or higher NICU (or 1+ year PICU)
- Active Pennsylvania Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- RRT, BLS, and NRP certifications required
- PALS preferred
- PA Fingerprints required prior to start
