ICU Float Pool Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced ICU nurse for a night float pool position. You will provide care across multiple high-acuity units, including the ICU, medical/telemetry, progressive care, and overflow areas. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to adapt to varying patient populations and acuity levels.

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: Night 4x12 (19:00–07:30)
• Duration: 17 weeks
• Start Dates: 10/12, 10/26, 11/2, or 11/16
• Weekend Requirement: At least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
• Scheduling: No requests accommodated; maximum 2 weeks total time off, with none permitted in the first 2 weeks of assignment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (first-time travelers must have experience from a 400+ bed facility)
• Active California RN license (permanent only; no pending or temporary licenses)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Swan Ganz/Pulmonary Artery line monitoring experience is required
• Must pass an EKG exam on the first day of orientation
• Flu vaccination required

Clinical Scope

You'll manage high-acuity adult and geriatric patients across multiple specialties, including neuro, respiratory failure with mechanical ventilation, acute cardiac events, hemodynamic instability, transplant patients, and critical bleeds. Essential skills include ventilator management, arterial line and central line care, vasoactive drip titration, blood product administration, ICP monitoring, and ABG interpretation.

Preferred Experience

• CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy)
• EVD (external ventricular drain) management
• Transplant or trauma ICU background
