Certified Surgical Technologist – Operating Room
Position Overview
Join the surgical team at the facility's main operating room, supporting a diverse surgical service line in a fast-paced acute care setting.
Shift & Schedule
- 3x12-hour shifts: 06:30–19:00, 09:30–22:00, or 10:30–23:00
- On-call: 30-minute response time; approximately 3 weekdays and 2–3 weekend days per 6-week pay period
- Weekend coverage required — may exceed every other weekend based on unit needs
- Holiday commitment: Must work 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years surgical tech experience (first-timers accepted with 3+ years total experience)
- MANDATORY: Spine and total joint surgical experience with demonstrated competency (3rd and 4th scrub roles)
- Certifications: BLS, CST, and either NBSTSA or NCCT
- Compact state license required at submission
- Current references (2, covering past 1 year) required prior to start
Clinical Scope
The facility operates 6 surgical suites handling a broad spectrum of procedures:
- Required competencies: General surgery, orthopedic, spine, total joints, urology, GYN (including hysterectomy, C-section, laparoscopic procedures), and vascular
- Preferred: Ophthalmology, plastics, podiatry, ENT, robotic-assisted procedures, and SPD experience
- Patient population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Scrub color: Navy blue (provided for L&D/OR staff)
Floating
You may float between the main OR and the facility's outpatient surgery center (3 suites) as needed.
