Cardiac PCU — Travel Nurse | Night Shift | Atlanta, GA
This is a high-acuity, cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit seeking an experienced travel nurse with a strong cardiac background. The unit manages a complex patient population with significant procedural volume and frequent admissions and discharges.
Assignment Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 × 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours/week
- Contract: 13 weeks | Start: Every Monday
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- 50-mile radius — no local travelers
Patient Population
Heart failure, A-Fib, A-Flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, chest pain, hypertension, fluid volume overload, congenital heart disease, heart transplant, and LVAD patients.
Common Procedures
Right and left heart catheterizations, sheath removal and management, TR band management, stent placement, valve replacement, cardioversions, ablations, pacemaker and ICD management, groin site management, and chest tube management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac PCU experience
- Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation — must pass an on-site, proctored dysrhythmia exam (paper-based, caliper-required) on the first attempt; no remediation offered
- Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
- Chest tube experience required
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training available)
- "4" rating required on all cardiac skills checklist items
Float Expectations
Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units. Floating to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles is not permitted for travelers.
