Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN

Burlington, NC | Days | 13-Week Contract

This Cardiac Progressive Care position focuses on high-acuity cardiac and respiratory patients in an all-private-room unit with continuous remote cardiac monitoring. Scheduling is self-assisted on a 6-week cycle, aligned to departmental needs and patient acuity.

Shift & Schedule

• 3x12-hour days, 07:00–19:30
• Weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• Primary focus: Congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Secondary focus: COPD, ia, BiPAP management

Required Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management; on-unit telemetry monitoring
• Pre/post cardiac cath care
• Peripheral and PICC line management
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management (titration and non-titration)
• Procedural sedation administration
• Chest tube management; BiPAP/CPAP; tracheostomy care
• Familiarity with rapid response teams preferred

Support Staff

• Nurse assistants available 24/7
• Unit secretary on days and evenings

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac PCU experience required; first-time travelers welcome
• Previous charge RN experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Active RN license required at time of submission
• EKG compliance exam required (2 attempts allowed)
• No local candidates within 50 miles
• Floating to other campus locations may be required
