Orthopedics / Med-Surg with Telemetry — Travel RN (Charge Experience Required)

Burlington, NC | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This ortho/med-surg unit provides care for adult and geriatric patients across a broad range of surgical and medical diagnoses. Telemetry monitoring capability is available on the unit, and an on-unit physical therapy gym allows patients to complete rehab without leaving the floor. The unit also accommodates ED overflow patients, occasionally at higher acuity.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12s
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call required
• Float to other campus locations may be required

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

• High volume: post-operative surgical patients, inpatient and 24-hour observation med-surg
• Moderate volume: cervical/lumbar spine surgery patients
• Lower volume: total joint replacements, fracture repairs, shoulder repairs, kyphoplasties
• Occasional use of CPMs and Buck's Traction

Required Skills

Telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation, blood product administration, PICC/central line management, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, CBI, PCA, IV starts, surgical drains, pre/post hemodialysis, ostomy care, and isolation/PPE protocols

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Charge RN experience required
• BLS required
• Active RN license in hand at submission
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• No local candidates within 50 miles
• RTO must be submitted with application; no post-submission changes accepted
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
