Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Burlington, NC | 13-Week Contract

This Emergency Department position covers a high-acuity, combined adult and pediatric environment caring for patients across all age groups — neonates through geriatrics. The unit manages a broad range of presentations including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, cancer-related emergencies, behavioral health crises, traumatic injuries, and medical emergencies, with access to specialties including cardiac catheterization and women's health services.

Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (occasional 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM as needed)
• Up to every-other-weekend coverage required
• Holiday coverage as needed
• No on-call requirement

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• STARR / Behavioral Population certification

Clinical Skills Required

• STEMI and stroke facility experience
• BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care
• Central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation
• Procedural sedation, blood product administration
• ICP monitoring, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• , phlebotomy, isolation precautions

Additional Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ED experience; first-time travelers welcome
• Active RN license required at time of submission
• EKG competency exam required (two attempts permitted)
• Non-billable orientation modules (approximately 2–4 hours)
• Travelers may be floated to other campus locations as needed
• No candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
• COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
